SANTA CRUZ II

PROJECT TYPE

  1. ESTABLISHED

The home is situated on the corner of a high-traffic intersection. Having very little space in the back yard, the owners desired a private courtyard in their front yard to shield them from the street. They were able to reach an agreement with the city planning department to enclose part of the front within high walls allowing us to design a colorful Mediterranean garden for the street and a private sanctuary for them.

In order to make the gate easier for everyday use, the client asked that it be hinged in two sections.

The patio is acid-stained, stamped concrete with grouted joints. The walls and raised planters surrounding the courtyard have an acid-stains, smooth stucco finish.
