This Spanish California garden was smothered in pink. Large camellias, rhododendrons, a flamboyant cherry and tea tree, all some shade of pink, all flowering at the same time! The yard was also muddy and unusable in winter and spring.
My client wanted a Mediterranean garden with a broader color palette, as well as a space she could enjoy throughout the year. Originally from New Mexico, she also wanted elements reminiscent of her former climate.
New steps lead from the house to a bi-level patio of large stone pavers and used brick. A hay bale fireplace festooned with creeping fig sits on the upper level.
An arbor built of distressed wood provides a cozy lounging nook.
